Integrated Language Subjects

This complete 4-year language curriculum gives students quality direct instruction in spelling, handwriting, reading, grammar, composition/literature, and introduction to Latin in a multisensory and integrated method beginning as early as kindergarten. Here is a snapshot of the integrated subjects across the four levels.

HANDWRITING

Since almost all our written language is seen in printed form, we begin teaching a clear simple manuscript. As the students develop their fine motor skills, they learn to connect those letters into a clear cursive writing.

Level One: Custom paper - 5/8" spaced lines with dotted intermediary line to make printing easy for young hands; students begin by learning simple figures needed to form letters, then learn manuscript formation of all letters with clear simple instructions; consistent writing through copy work and dictation leads to building muscle memory as they compile their notebooks.

Level Two: Custom paper - 5/8" spaced with NO intermediary line; mastery of manuscript writing as students compile their notebooks of spelling, grammar, sentences to analyze, and composition pages; introduce figures to connect letters and teach a connected cursive writing.

Level Three: Custom paper - 3/8" for all written work; extensive practice with cursive writing and style as they build newly designed pages of their spelling log, grammar, sentences to analyze, composition and intro to Latin.

Level Four: Custom paper - 3/8" for all written work; mastery of cursive writing and style as they complete pages of their spelling log, grammar, complex sentences to analyze, composition, and introduction to Latin.

From reading the words they build to reading stories and literature

Level One: 20 First Readers for the students to read aloud and illustrate themselves; reading and art combined to track reading comprehension in young students. A bonus set of 10 First Readers are available to provide next level skill practice; not only do students continue to read and illustrate their stories but now will answer 8-10 Read and Think questions based on each one.
